Corning Veterans Resource Center
A veteran’s greatest mission shouldn’t be navigating the system alone. From unlocking hidden benefits to forging elite career paths and fostering a brotherhood that doesn’t end at discharge, we provide the tactical support you’ve earned for our veterans and their families
Who We Are
The Corning Veterans Resource Center (CVRC) is a dedicated community hub designed to support veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Located in the heart of Corning, we bridge the gap between military service and civilian life by providing direct access to essential benefits, wellness programs, and a supportive network of peers.
What We Do
We honor the service of our local veterans by providing a “one-stop shop” for advocacy, resources, and community connection. We are committed to ensuring that no veteran navigates their post-service journey alone.
What We offer
In conjunction with our partners, we provide a wide range of services tailored to the unique needs of the military community:
VA Benefits Assistance: Expert guidance on filing claims, understanding healthcare eligibility, and maximizing education benefits (GI Bill).
Employment & Career Transition: Resume workshops, job fair listings, and partnerships with veteran-friendly local employers.
Mental Health & Wellness: Peer-to-peer support groups, counseling referrals, and stress-management workshops.
Housing Support: Assistance with VA home loans and resources for veterans facing housing instability.
Community Lounge: A safe, welcoming space to grab a coffee, share stories, and connect with fellow service members.
Where We're Located
We are located in the heart of downtown Corning at 1301 Solano Street where Solano crosses Fifth Street. This historic building was one of the first built in Corning in 1882 as a stopping point for miners heading for fame and fortune in the California gold fields. It has seen a lot of veterans pass through these doors from the Civil War until the latest conflicts. Corning’s own Boxer Rebellion Medal of Honor winner, Francis Silva, may have stood at this bar in the days when it was a local “watering hole.”
Hours of Operation
The center is operated by volunteers with planned hours as follows:
- Monday 10-3
- Tueday 10-3
- Wednesday 12-3
- Thurday 10-3
- Friday 10 – 3
- Saturday 10 -2
- Sunday Closed
We are available before or after those hours by booking an appointment through our Facebook page.
We are here to serve our veterans and will make every effort to make ourselves available to them based on their schedule.
Our Logo
- The middle circle identifies the close camaraderie and connection veterans have through service and sacrifice
- The American flag represents our proud heritage handed down to us through those whose sacrifice made us a free and independent nation
- The inner circle represents the compass that directs us to our objectives
- The wings remind us that we will soar on the wings like eagles, we will run and not grow weary, we will walk and not grow faint. (Isa 40:11)
- The torch represents victory and the light that guides our way and the beacon we hold up for others to follow
- The outer circle represents the greater community. It stands as a reminder that sense of duty that called us to serve our country, still calls us to serve our countrymen.
- The star at the bottom of the circle stands for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and it is through our continued service to our comrades in arms and our community that we honor their commitment and their sacrifice.
